Youth Development Worker


The successful candidate will join a small staff team at a busy parish Church on the Wirral. They will be a committed Christian; self-motivated and flexible; and work primarily with secondary school age young people. They will also be involved in some work with upper primary school age-groups.

The post-holder will report directly to the Senior Youth Worker.


The role involves;

  • Working with the Secondary School age young people including: contributing to the developing, planning and delivery of ‘The Bank’ drop-in sessions; contributing in the planning, development and delivery of possible future clubs; being involved in running and helping develop all project Camps; contributing to fundraising events; coordinating Unique shop ordering and printing with the prospect of relaunching a creative, social enterprise club
  • Working with Primary School age children, including: initiating and developing links and activities for upper key stage (KS2) primary school children
  • Being part of a team which works to improve the links across the Children’s and Youth Work by: contributing to the development of vision, including a 3-year plan and 0-18s Development Strategy; assisting with Chaplaincy Work in local schools; assisting coordination of a small team of volunteers across the 0-18s age groups and developing opportunities for young people to contribute to St. Mary’s’ services (particularly the 6.30pm service)
  • To run and develop ‘The Bank’ including stock control and maintaining the hygiene under the directions of the senior youth worker



The contract is for 3 years starting April 2018 (by negotiation) and is a Full-Time post (total of 40 hours a week). This role will be paid at the rate of £20,000 – £22,000 per annum depending on experience.

No formal Youth Work qualification is required as relevant training will be given as part of the role.  The post requires an enhanced DBS check.
